Dedicated Scouts are preparing to transform a neglected Colne garden into a place for the whole community to enjoy.
As part of Scout Community Week in June, 16th Pendle Sacred Heart Cub Scout Group have decided to give a new lease of life to land outside Sacred Heart Church, in Queen Street.
Among other improvements, the group aim to build an area for a camp fire, create vegetable plots and grow memorial trees. A plan has been drawn up by gardener and Scout leader Warren Manley. The project is being supported by DIY store B&Q, Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson, and Father Chris Gorton.
Scout leader John Manley said: “The area was overgrown, and full of rubbish.
“This project will make it a nice and safe area for the children to play in.”
16th Pendle Sacred Heart Cub Scout Group are also urging residents to donate any unwanted camping equipment to them.
