Trawden youngsters need a skate park to prevent them from getting into danger, a mum-of-two and campaigner has argued.
Amanda Cunningham, who is fronting the Trawden Skatepark Initiative, was this week left concerned about children’s safety after seeing broken pieces of wood outside Trawden Community Centre. The pallets had been used by children who are desperate to get an extreme sports facility in the village.
Amanda, who is hoping to get a skate park built at Ball Grove Park, said: “This sort of thing is happening because we haven’t got recreational facilities for the children.
“Trawden and Colne will become skate parks, and that is not good.
“The kids have used the wood for stunts, but it has broken into small pieces, with sharp edges. They are also on a verge, which goes onto concrete.”
Amanda will be attending the next Ball Grove Park AGM to share her reasons on why the village should be given a skate park. Following a public consultation, involving 20 houses near to the park, 50% of residents said they were for the facility, while 50% were against.
