Staff at Planit Opticians in Colne have proved their eyes are firmly on the prize by scooping a prestigious industry award.
The Albert Road firm, which was set up by entrepreneurs Mike Procter and Phil Howlett in July last year, was crowned winner of the New Start up Practice gong at the Optician Awards 2013.
Held in Birmingham, the glittering ceremony has been likened to the Baftas for opticians.
Planit was chosen for its “welcoming and friendly environment”, as well as its ability to “attract new patients”,
Mr Howlett said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have received this prestigious award in recognition of our hard work and is a real credit to our staff. We offer a new and exciting way of buying eye-care and eye-wear and we are totally dedicated to great customer service.”
Planit customers are currently being encouraged to donate their old glasses, so that staff can clean and catalogue them for Vision Aid Overseas. At Christmas, the company gave £5,000 worth of spectacles to the charity.
