Saturday saw the hot summer weather continue - and the annual rushbearing ceremony take place at St Mary’s Church, Newchurch.
The afternoon saw the traditional procession from the village primary school to the centre of the village, where this year’s rushbearing queen, Eve Culshaw, was crowned by the vicar of Fence and Newchurch, the Rev. Jane Bury.
A hymn was sung to the accompaniment of the Burnley Alliance Silver Band before the procession returned to the church for a service and afternoon tea.
The service was well attended, with Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson among those who were present.
