Police have issued an appeal for information after a burglary at a house in Nelson on Friday night in which a large amount of cash was stolen.
Between 8-45pm and 9pm, a house on Eckroyd Close was broken into when someone went into the back garden of the property via the side gate and smashed a panel in a patio door to get inside.
Once inside, they have searched several rooms, stealing several items including £20,000 in cash, a laptop, a phone, a large amount of men’s and ladies’ jewellery including rings and watches, the majority of which were in purple presentation boxes.
The man was described as being around five feet eight inches tall, of slim build and wearing dark clothing and a baseball cap. He was seen near the rear of the house and was then seen running towards Hibson Road.
PC James Walton said: “If anyone has any information about what happened or noticed anyone acting suspiciously around the address on Friday evening, I would ask them to come forward and get in touch.
“The victim is willing to offer a reward for any information passed directly to Lancashire Police that leads to the successful conviction of the person responsible.”
l Fireworks valued at £700 were stolen from Colne Cricket Club at around 7pm on Wednesday, December 11th. Fireworks were later reported being set off in the Oak Street area of Colne.
l A 42in. TV worth £500 was stolen when Colne and Nelson Rugby Club in Harrison Drive, Colne, was broken into overnight between Friday and Saturday.
l Items with a total value of £450 were stolen after a car window was smashed overnight between Saturday and Sunday. The Vauxhall Corsa was parked in Holme Terrace, Nelson, and property stolen included a black three-quarter length waxed cotton Barbour jacket, a stripy Paul Smith washbag and two pairs of Adidas football boots.
