Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson is to host his third Jobs Fair at the Muni in Colne on March 28th.

The previous two fairs have both been very successful, with 900 local people attending the first one and 1,200 last year.

In a letter to local employers, Mr Stephenson says: “I am hoping you will want to be a part of this demonstration that Pendle is working – that opportunities do exist and are there to be found by the keen jobseeker.

“I have been delighted to see that unemployment in Pendle is falling – faster than the national average – and local businesses are growing.

“Before I was elected to Parliament I ran my own business, and fully understand the value of good quality employees that match each company’s needs.

“I also know that an event like this, which achieved tremendous publicity in the run up to the event, can significantly help to put your company firmly in the spotlight as a thriving concern.”

Mr Stephenson said he aimed to have representatives of up to 30 local companies and organisations who can offer one or more of the following opportunities:

l Current and future job vacancies.

l Current and future apprenticeships.

l Advice on what their company does, and what it needs from its employees.

l Mock interviews to give job-seekers the experience and employers a feel for their potential.

l A presentation to promote to job-seekers – and other local businesses – what companies and organisations do.

Mr Stephenson’s letter goes on: “I hope your company will take part to raise the profile of your brand and join me in demonstrating our commitment to the people of Pendle.”
