Burnley’s new urgent care centre saw 71 patients through its doors during the first few hours of operation.
The £9m. state-of-the-art building, on the Burnley General Hospital site, opened at the end of January.
Hospital bosses said 71 people visited the centre, which also houses a GPs out-of-hours service and children’s minor injuries unit, between 8am and 4pm. The first patient was 13-year-old Harry Wintersgill from Barrowford with his mum, Tracy.
Harry had a recurrent pain in his side and was feeling sick.
Tracy said: “This new building is a big improvement on the old unit. It’s a really lovely environment, really well set out and well equipped with a nice separate waiting area for children.”
