Delays in opening new Colne Health Centre

Finalising legal contracts is to blame for delays in opening Colne’s new multi-million pound health centre.

The three storey building in Craddock Road was due to be officially unveiled earlier in the month.

But according to a spokesman for NHS England, Lancashire, “the project has been slightly delated while all legal contracts required for the move have been finalised”. It is anticipated that services from the current Market Street centre will move into the new building in the next few weeks.

The spokesman added: “All of the partners involved in the new centre are working hard to ensure that it is ready to open to patients as soon as possible.

“Our service to patients remains our primary concern and we are working to make sure that the transition of services to the new centre will be achieved with minimum disruption.

“We would also like to reassure patients that they can continue to access the full range of services through the existing health centre site at Market Street until the move is completed.”

The Colne Times understands that discussions are also taking place between the NHS Property Company

and Pendle Council on the possible sale of the old Health Centre to Pendle/PEARL once it becomes empty.
