CCTV images have been released by police after a skimming device was found on a Colne cash machine.
Officers hope that by re-appealing for information, witnesses may step forward.
The image was taken from outside the Co-Op, in Market Street, on February 16th. At around noon, a man tried to use the ATM to withdraw some money but the machine swallowed his card. As he walked away from the machine, immediately afterwards, another man approached the machine and withdrew money from his account before walking away.
PC Jayne Chambers, of Burnley police,said: “If anyone recognises the people in the CCTV images then I would urge them to come forward and contact us.
“I would also remind people to be vigilant when using cash machines and if you spot anything at all that you feel is unusual, do not use the machine and report it to the owner of the machine.”
A similar incident also happened in Oswaldtwistle on February 18th outside the Co-Op store, in Union Road.
A customer’s card was swalled, he went in to report it, and when a member of staff came out to examine the machine, what appeared to be a skimming device was found.
On this occasion, the customer retrieved his card and no money was stolen.
