Plans to create a new store selling alcohol in Barrowford will come up on Tuesday at Nelson Town Hall.
It is a licence review meeting from 10am, due to the volume of complaints about the proposal put forward by Morrisons to open one of its M Local stores next to Spar on Gisburn Road. It was previously a petrol station.
There have been more than 200 names on a petition from the Spar, Bargain Booze, Village Fayre and Greengrocers stores. There were also more than 70 letters of objection from the local community.
Morrisons plan to sell alcohol from 6am to 11pm there.
Mr Gerard Threadgould from Spar said: “We are hoping it will be refused. Everyone coming in this shop are asking why they are doing it. We are pleased with the support. The people here locally are against the idea.”
