Do you remember the old Wakes Weeks. Chances are you will, especially if you are a parent with teenage children.
Wakes Weeks meant cheaper holidays for Burnley folk, both in July and September. Holidays were certainly more affordable as the rest of England was still at school while Burnley families were able to take a break without fear of being fined.
The real blame must lie with the holiday companies whose price rises during the school holidays are preventing some families from taking a hard-earned break. That really cannot be right.
Bring back the Wakes!
