Butchers have created an eggs-traordinary surprise for their Colne customers this Easter.
For as well as selling their usual variety of produce, staff at Grahame’s Poultry are also offering a scotch egg with a difference.
While it may not look out of the ordinary, this product is far from the expected - as once cracked open it reveals a Cadbury’s Creme Egg.
The sweet and savoury treat has been gaining mixed reaction in the town, with some loving the unique flavour and others finding it completely bizarre. The gluten-free gooey delicacies are selling for £1.50 over the Easter period.
Justin Wharton, who runs the Market Street business with his dad Grahame, said: “I saw it in the papers, and decided to jump on the bandwagon for Easter.
“It is a creme egg wrapped in sausage meat, and coated in a cajun bread crumb.
“Opinion has been mixed, as some people are freaked out by them, but I have had them and think they are alright - I do have a sweet tooth though.”
According to the Daily Mail the seasonal snacks were created by Southport butcher Graham Eyes (53).
He is said to have come up with the concoction after creating Cadbury’s Mini Egg sausages last year,
