A Barrowford woman who was made redundant after separating from her long-term partner has won her claim for unfair dismissal.
Nicholette Smith, of Clough Springs, lost her job as sales and marketing manager at Pendle Frozen Foods in 2012, having split up with her partner of 20 years, company director Andrew, the year before.
She took her case to an industrial tribunal in Manchester, which found in her favour last week after a three-day hearing.
Nicholette said: “I had worked closely with Andrew Platt, his father Anthony and brother Matthew in building the company up to where it is today.
“I had to take time off work for depression after we split but the day I told them I was going back to work, they told me I was being made redundant.
“I saw a couple of solicitors about it but they did not want to take it on, but I saw a woman at the Citizens Advice Bureau who encouraged me to go to a tribunal and was very helpful.
“I am very pleased with the outcome and would encourage anyone who finds themselves in a similar position to consider going down the same road.”
Pendle Frozen Foods declined to comment.
