After an eight-year-old boy was believed to have been badly injured in a road accident involving a bus, it has now been revealed he is “fine”.

The accident happened in Colne on Albert Road by Derby Street at around 4-20pm on Monday.

The local lad – not yet named – was hit by the Bubble Travel single bus and was lying on the road near to it with what were originally believed to be serious injuries. He was not trapped under it.

The police attended and an ambulance was called and took him to the Royal Blackburn Hospital.

A police spokesman said: “He is fine! He was lucky to have just a few scratches. He was a lucky boy. He was fortunate to have escaped more serious injuries.” He was kept in hospital over night for treatment.

The main road was closed both ways while he was dealt with and the accident investigated by the police. A road policing sergeant had come all the way from Lancaster to take charge.

It was closed from Stanley House Veterinary Surgery to The Muni but re-opened at 6-50pm.
