Enforcement action is being taken to demolish a 1.8m high fence that was put up without planning permission.
An application for the retention of the fence at the back of two Hendly Court properties was heard at the latest Colne and District Committee meeting.
Proposals for a 1.5m high fence had been thrown out in September 2013, but a few months ago 1.8m high fencing was erected after ownership of the homes changed. Any fencing above 1m requires planning permission.
Now councillors have ordered for the destruction of the high timber enclosure - since it has “an unacceptable impact on the street scene”.
But supporters of the application argued that fencing provides security, peace and privacy, and that a 1m high fence would not deter criminals.
