Nelson home raider’s ‘Next time I’ll kill you’ threat

Police are appealing for information after a burglar told his elderly victim “next time I’ll kill you”.

The burglary happened between 1am and 4-15am on Saturday, at an address In Hibson Road, Nelson.

The 85-year-old victim, who lives alone, was asleep in bed when the burglar broke in and ransacked her home before entering her bedroom. He then stole jewellery, including the victim’s wedding ring.

When the victim woke up and shouted at the man to leave he threatened her saying “think yourself lucky, next time I’ll kill you” and then left. She was left shocked but unhurt.

Property stolen included cash, keys, a digital camera and the wedding ring, with a total value of more than £400.

The burglar is described as slim, aged 20 to 35, 5ft. 7in. to 5ft. 10in. tall, clean shaven with a pale face and dark eyebrows. He was wearing a dark, knee-length coat with a hood which was pulled up.

Det. Con. Nicola Breckell, of Burnley Police, said: “This must have been a terrifying experience for the victim and I would appeal for anyone who has any information to get in touch with us.”
