Staff and students at Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form held a “Wear It Pink” Breast Cancer Awareness Day – raising money for the charity.
The college has a long history of supporting charitable endeavours. It organises a variety of events to raise money for numerous charities and supports staff and students alike in their own independent fund-raising efforts.
Breast Cancer Campaign funds world-class breast cancer research projects in the UK and Ireland that provide the greatest potential to benefit patients.
In the last 20 years, the campaign to overcome breast cancer has gone from strength to strength and more women are outliving the disease than ever before.
Raising money for the Campaign is incredibly important – the essential projects they fund cannot continue without help.
Each year, the Campaign organises an official Wear It Pink day and various people and institutes across the country also organise their own informal Wear It Pink days in support of the charity.
The college held a Wear It Pink day in June, inviting staff and students to wear pink clothing at a £1 donation. The college also held a pink-themed cake sale, which was a big hit! During the course of the day, the event raised £157.74, which will go to Breast Cancer Campaign to help in the fight against this disease.
