A woman who tried to blame a Trawden motorcyclist for the collision that caused his death has been banned from the roads.
Michelle Anne Marshall (54), of Springfield Court, Grassington, was banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to undertake 250 hours community service.
The sentencing at Bradford Crown Court came after she was found guilty of death by careless driving following a crash that killed Dominic Paul Lee (49), of Colne Road, in May last year.
She had pulled her grey Hyundai ix20 out into the path of Mr Lee’s Triumph Spirit on the A65 Northern Bypass.
Mr Lee was seriously injured and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Leeds General Infirmary.
Traffic Sgt Pete Stringer, of Skipton Roads Policing Group, welcomed her sentence.
He said: “Michelle Marshall has shown no remorse for her actions throughout the court proceedings and even tried to blame Dominic for the collision.
“I would like to pay tribute to Dominic’s family for the dignity they have shown in such tragic circumstances and I hope Marshall’s sentence can bring them some degree of comfort.
“Marshall needs to face up to the fact her actions have resulted in the sad and untimely death of Dominic and hopefully today’s sentence will help her do that.
“It is well documented that too many motorcyclists lose their lives on North Yorkshire’s roads every year by riding too fast.
“However, in cases like this one, it is the car driver who is at fault and I urge all motorists to consider the safety of bikers and indeed cyclists when out on the roads.”
