Nelson primary school is ‘inadequate’, say Ofsted

A Nelson primary school has been found to require special measures because it fails to meet Government standards in education.

Castercliff Community Primary School was inspected by Ofsted in May and pupil achievement and behaviour, standards of teaching and leadership and management were all found to be inadequate, the lowest of four Government ratings.

The school had been deemed to require improvement at its last inspection in 2012.

The inspectors’ report said: “A record of decline in the school’s performance since the last inspection reflects the inadequate ability of the leadership to make the necessary improvements.”

A full story on the Ofsted report will appear in next week’s Nelson Leader.
