Disabled enthusiastic bike rider Andrew Fairclough (22) had his cycle stolen – but he has now got it back again!

Unfortunately it is not in good condition. There are a few damages including the wheels.

Andrew’s three-wheel bike which he loves to ride had been outside the front of his Barrowford home so that he could go for a trip. But it then disappeared.

His mum Gillian McHattie said: “It was taken on Thursday and I reported it to the police. Andrew had been for respite care in Burnley and when we came back at first it was there and we said he could play on it after we’d been to the shops. When we got back from the shops, it had gone!”

There have been a load of possibilities about how it was taken. A lot of people say they have seen it dumped around the village.

A group of four lads were spotted riding it but they say they found it elsewhere. It was discovered in the graveyard above Barrowford Park, they say. And they were planning to take it to Colne Police Station. But they then abandoned it, apparently.

It was actually found hidden in long grass by the new Booths store in Barrowford. Mr Ron Ashworth found it and put it in his backyard. His wife Rebecca then contacted Gillian to let her know it was available again.

Gillian said: “I got contacted on Facebook and she gave me her number and she gave the bike back. We were both pleased to get it back.”

However, she said: “I am disappointed. The police aren’t going to investigate it any more. It has been damaged and somebody needs to pay for this damage. Obviously it’s me now, isn’t it!”

But now it is back, Andrew said: “I’m very pleased to get it back!” And his mum added: “It was out in front ready for him when it was stolen and it is a heavy bike. I am glad he has got it back.”
