A man was left bleeding from his head following an assault in Colne.
Police confirmed that the victim, in his 40s, was assaulted in Church Street at around 8-30pm on Saturday.
It is believed the offender/s hit the victim on the head, before walking away.
The incident has sparked outrage on social media, after a Facebook user reported the man had to be taken to hospital by police.
It was said the victim had allegedly been waiting for the ambulance to arrive for 40 minutes.
A North West Ambulance spokesman said: “We understand that waiting for an ambulance can be distressing and we are sorry for any upset caused to the patient.
“When received, all 999 calls are given a priority rating, based on the information given by the caller, to make sure patients receive the most appropriate response for their needs and those with immediately life-threatening conditions are responded to first.
“We urge patients to contact us directly to discuss any concerns regarding the service we provide.”
