A young man came to Burnley from Pakistan 35 years ago to an alien and sometimes hostile new world.
Abdul Majeed left family behind when he came here to work. But what he didn’t leave behind was a determination and will to succeed.
He admits it was sometimes a bumpy ride, and he more than once considered packing it all in.
But he stayed and is now Burnley’s longest serving restaurateur where the locals even call him Mark. Burnley is home and he loves the place.
It’s a credit to his tenacity and to those unprejudiced folk who did make him welcome.
