Disgusted parents are urging thieves to return sentimental items stolen from their daughter’s grave.
Stephen and Carole Philpott, whose only child Lisa (30) died four years ago, were left in shock when they discovered three keyrings had been taken from their frequently-visited spot at Colne Cemetery over the weekend.
And now they are making a heartfelt plea for the items, which they bought in Lanzarote, to be returned to the site, off Keighley Road.
The keyrings are in the shape of a poodle, a handbag and a shoe, to reflect former Park High School student and Protec worker Lisa’s love for animals and fashion.
Mrs Philpott (52), of Russell Avenue, Colne, said: “I can’t get my head around how somebody can steal off a grave.
“We had been to Liverpool over the weekend, but had visited the grave on Friday, at about 1pm, and they were there.
“We got back on Sunday, about 1-30pm to 2pm, and realised they had gone. It took my breath at first.
“I would just like to say that if the keyrings were put back in the same place, we wouldn’t take it any further. If anybody knows who has got them, then please make them put them back.
“I would like to think that if Lisa had come home with them and I found out, then I would say ‘you’re coming with me and you’re going to put them back’.
“I just hope whoever has done it sees this and sees how much stress and upset they have caused.”
