MP visits innovative Pendle firm

Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson has visited innovative Nelson company Science in Sport.

The Lomeshaye-based business develops, manufactures and markets sports nutrition products for professional athletes and sports enthusiasts.

In the 2012 Olympics, 24 medal winning athletes or teams used SiS products.

Mr Stephenson was given a factory tour by the business’s new product director, Luke Heeney, who explained about the business and its positive impact on the local area.

His visit came on the day before the Tour de France started in Yorkshire and SiS were supplying three teams on the world stage with products all manufactured in Pendle.

The company now employs over 60 people within Pendle and is fast growing with its products stocked in shops and supermarkets across the UK and with a thriving export business.

Mr Stephenson said: “I was delighted to visit SiS and see another world beating product being manufactured here in Pendle.

“The fact that their products, made here in Pendle, are supporting some of the world best cyclists and athletes is something we can be really proud of.”
