A charity cricket match is to take place on Friday in memory of a young man killed in a car crash five years ago.
Pendle Leisure Trust worker and retained fire-fighter Tom Petty (25) died in a collision, along with his girlfriend Jessica Foxley (21) and friend Philip Wright (25), in July 2009. Since his death, family, friends and colleagues have held several fund-raisers and on Friday will again be hosting an event in his name.
Taking place at Colne Cricket Club from 6pm, the match will see Team P96 (Colne retained fire-fighters) and Team Petty go head to head. There will also be other family-friendly activities, including face painting and a barbecue, and money raised will be donated to Pendleside Hospice.
There will be no entrance fee, but there will be an opportunity to give donations on the door.
A spokesman for the event, organised by Tom’s uncle Steven and Colne fire-fighters, said: “We want to do something every year for Tom and keep it going in his memory. He was a much-loved colleague and friend.”
Anybody is welcome to attend the event. For more information see {http://www.facebook.com/events/711624488884755|www.facebook.com/events/711624488884755}
