Pendle riders secured podium placings and rosettes at the national riding for the disabled championships in Gloucestershire in July.
The Pendle Riding for the Disabled Association, based in Barnoldswick, took three riders to the Hartpury competition for the first time after unprecedented success in the qualifying event earlier in the year.
Riders included 22-year-old Jordan McGladdery from Salterforth who finished sixth in the intellectually-disabled dressage with horse her horse Hamish.
Jordan also scored 100% in her knowledge and care test while the Pendle team, including another horse Molly, was third in the best turned out competition.
Other riders from the Barnoldswick group who travelled down to the south west included Vikki Howarth (33), from Manchester, who was just edged into second place in her visually impaired dressage class, beating an international standard rider into third.
Twenty-nine-year-old Beijing Paralympics silver medallist Felicity Coulthard from Darwen finished just out the placings in seventh in her dressage event.
The trio of riders, along with horses Hamish, Molly and Duster, only got the opportunity to go to the distinguished event because of a last minute plea for funding.
Chief instructor Kate Bailey said: “The competition is very well supported, there are 455 riding for the disabled associations so the competition is tough.
“The fact we have come away with rosettes is very good. We’re thrilled and extremely proud of our riders.
“We wouldn’t have come away at all had we not had the financial support before the event as we wouldn’t have been going. So we owe a big thank you to those who made it possible.
“Overall, we are very pleased. It was hard work for the riders, and the heat was an added factor. It was 29 degrees and the show had to be halted due to thunderstorms.
“We also had a bit of fun at a disco where there was a hat theme. Because we are from Pendle, we all went in witches hats and that went down very well. We had a great time.”
