Colne mum’s thanks to selfless couple

A mum who fell while out walking with her little boy in Laneshaw Bridge is saying a huge thank you to the selfless couple who come to her aid.

Claire Matthews (28) was near Carriers Row with her son Luke (3) when she twisted her ankle and fell to the ground on the afternoon of Monday, July 28th.

The Nelson and Colne College student immediately phoned emergency services but in her state of shock she was unable to tell the ambulance service her location.

While on the phone, a kind-hearted couple came to her rescue and stayed with her until she was whisked away to Burnley General Hospital, where she was told she had soft tissue damage.

Claire, of Derby Street, said: “I just want to publicly thank the couple that stayed with me and helped me out.

“I was panicking and crying when I was on the phone to the ambulance, and they kept asking me where I was and I just couldn’t tell them anything.

“It wasn’t serious, but I was on my own with my three-year-old little boy and it felt like ages before anybody found me.”

Claire has also thanked the North West Air Ambulance and the North West Ambulance Service for their help during her ordeal.
