An annual Earby church garden party had to be held indoors last Saturday but rain didn’t dampen the spirit of those present.
This year’s All Saints’ Church party was opened by the Bishop of Knaresborough, James Bell, who was making his first trip to the church since taking up the position in January after the reorganising of the Diocese in Yorkshire.
Church warden Vera Cocker said: “We had a lovely day. It was a good afternoon with plenty of support, and we raised over £500 for church funds which was brilliant.
“Bishop James came to open the party and stayed for at least two hours.
“He was really lovely and went around talking to so many people and getting to know All Saints’. He asked for a guided tour and thoroughly enjoyed himself.
“He is back with us in September to take a service for us, so it was nice to be together in informal surroundings.”
