More than £500 was raised at a fun-filled afternoon to help a brave Colne girl enjoy a holiday with her family.
A fund-raiser was held for Morgan Hewitt (10), who is currently in remission from leukaemia, at the Cotton Tree Inn in Winewall.
Taking place over the weekend, the event had been organised by family friend Tracy Anderson to help Morgan, her mum Cat and her younger brother Blake (6) with travel costs and spending money for their Haven Holiday to Cala Gran Holiday Park. They had previously had to cut a holiday to Scarborough short, after Park Primary School pupil Morgan, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in July 2012, contracted shingles.
The trio set off on their travels on Monday, and according to Tracy Cat has been left overwhelmed by the support shown.
Mum-of-nine Tracy (34) said: “It all went well, and there were roughly about 50 to 60 people that came.
“Morgan came and she really enjoyed it - she was just very tired towards the end.
“She also went to Helen Green Academy of Dance’s Summer School Show on Saturday and they were collecting for her at the end. £69.55 was collected just from donations given by parents coming out of the door, so that was an unexpected amount to add to the total.”
