Staff from the Nelson-based Marsden Building Society were thrilled to hand over a donation of £14,225 to Pendleside Hospice.
The donation is a result of the Affinity savings accounts operated by the Marsden which enables savers to support their chosen charity.
Over the past five years, with the support of their members, the society has donated over £61,302 which has been used to help run the local hospice. The donation made by the society is based on the total average balance of all the Pendleside affinity accounts and is provided annually. As member savings balances increase, so does the donation from the society.
Christina Cope, Hospice Fundraising Manager, said: “We would like to thank members of the Marsden for supporting us and for this generous donation from Marsden Building Society.
“Pendleside Hospice is run predominantly on charitable donations and without your support, we wouldn’t be able to provide the services that we do, so we are very grateful.”
Rob Pheasey, Chief Executive of the Marsden, said: “As the local building society, we are delighted to continue our association with Pendleside Hospice in recognition of the important service they provide both at their centre and within the community.
“The real thanks should go to our members who have continued to demonstrate their support with their affinity savings with the society.”
