SUNDAY sees the annual Trawden Agricultural Show - and a TV crew will be filming there for a BBC series to be screened in autumn featuring country shows.
Trawden Show 2012 is on target to be a fantastic day, and the weather forecast shows it will be warm and dry on Sunday. In the main ring, there is a real crowd-pleaser in the form of Inch Perfect.
Inch Perfect Trials Display is a professional fun, exciting and dynamic motorcycle trials display team providing exhilarating action-packed entertainment.
This year’s show has already attracted a high level of entries for many sections including the adult arts and crafts marquee, vintage vehicles, and Shetland ponies.
Entries are taken on the day for the children’s pet classes - categories include rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, mice, ducks or chickens - or if your pet is more unusual, there is “The most unusual pet in the show” class. Pets must be in the children’s pet marquee by 9-45am on Sunday.
Entries are also taken on the day for the fun dog show (between 11am and 1pm with judging starting at 1pm. So if your dog is the prettiest, the most obedient, the scruffiest or has the waggiest tail, bring it along. For other classes check the general schedule on www.trawdenshow.co.uk
If your “thing” is horses, then you are in for a treat. Not only is there a record entry in the Shetland pony classes, in the main ring there will be a working horse parade and the audience favourite the Puissance, where horses and riders compete to jump the highest. On the horse show field there will be a large range of horses and ponies competing in classes including working hunter, equitation and show jumping.
Dogs are also well represented this year with the fun dog show, sheepdog trials, terrier racing (entries on the day) and dog agility displays by the Pendle Dog Agility Club.
Not forgetting that this is an agricultural show, the farm animals will take centre stage when this year Trawden Show hosts The Hebridean Sheep Society’s Annual Show. This will form a major part of the rare breeds show and is a real honour for the show.
Pigs are making a very welcome return to the show this year and line up alongside cattle, goats, sheep and poultry.
For the children, there is a treasure hunt and - following on from success of Team GB over the past two weeks - the show will host its very own Mini-Olympics – complete with medals.
It is also host for the last race of the Pendle and Burnley Grand Prix 2012. The Boulsworth Fell Race is a gruelling 7.5 mile fell race which starts from the showfield at 10-30am.
Entrance to the show is £6 for adults and £3 children, with the under 5s getting free admission. There is ample free parking adjacent to the show field and for those not wishing to drive there is a free bus which does a circular trip from the railway station in Colne to the showground.
