Pendle residents who don’t want to subscribe to the council’s garden waste collections can arrange to have their green bins collected during November.
The council introduced its garden waste subscription scheme in June of this year.
Since then, Pendle households have paid subscriptions for almost 8,500 garden waste bins.
People who are making their own arrangements to dispose of their garden waste – be that through composting or by taking their own waste to Household Waste Recycling Centres – are welcome to keep their green wheeled bins for use in their gardens.
But those who would prefer to get rid of their green bins can now arrange for the council to collect them.
Coun. David Clegg, who represents Pendle Council’s Waste Management Services, said: “Residents are still subscribing to our garden waste collection service every week now, four months on from when we first introduced it.
“If anyone is still undecided about whether or not to subscribe, you can keep your green bin and come back to us at any time to request the service.
“But if you’re sure you don’t want us to collect your garden waste, we can take away your green bin.”
If you’d like Pendle Council to take away your green wheeled bin, there are a number of ways you can arrange a collection by calling the council’s contact centre on 661743, by filling in the online form at www.pendle.gov.uk/forms, by speaking to someone face to face at Number One Market Street, Nelson or by using the Contact Pendle Facebook page.
