Pupils at a Barnoldswick primary school excelled in enterprise during a business themed week.

All children at Coates Lane Primary School designed, developed, priced and marketed homemade creations before selling them at a special community open sale held in October.

The event aimed to merge the school’s curriculum, particularly maths and English, with the world of business allowing children to express themselves on the sales floor, and practise communication skills and team work.

Children demonstrated a mix of flair and grit to gain sales and swell profits at the enterprise fair and money raised on the day is likely to be split between classroom decorations, a school trip and a donation to a local charity.

Deputy Headteacher Christopher Dugdale said: “The day was fantastic, there was a great atmosphere around school as children were preparing their stalls and teachers eyeing up the friendly competition.

“Once again the children were phenomenal role models and the support from our parents and wider community goes without saying.

“We thank everyone for their continued effort and contributions on our journey from good to great.”
