Creating a clear path to work

Last week I was busy with a mixture of constituent appointments and parliamentary business.

There are still a lot of ongoing issues with constituents and getting the appropriate education for children who have autism. I have worked hard, both in Burnley and in Westminster on this and will continue to do so.

I have been busy reviewing my apprenticeship activities over the past month for my report to the Department for Business and was quite surprised once I started to put it together just how much I have managed to see. Apprenticeships are offering a clear path to work for many more young people and the businesses I have visited should be congratulated for their efforts to bring young people into the workplace. On Tuesday I was on air with the BBC Radio Lancashire Breakfast Show – I always enjoy discussing various local issues with them. Towards the end of the week I met with delegates from a number of local councils to discuss a potential Unitary Authority for East Lancashire. I believe that a union of local boroughs could offer a number of benefits to Burnley, particularly in savings made by the sharing of services.

On Friday afternoon I went to the new Burnley High School for their Founders Day. The school is doing incredibly well and I am proud of their achievements; I was delighted to be invited and involved. I had my appointment surgeries as usual during the day and was busy in the office replying to constituents and working through their concerns.

surgery dates:

My upcoming surgeries will be held from 4-5pm on:

Friday, November 7th, at Sainsburys.

Friday, November 14th, at Asda.

Friday, November 21st, at Burnley Central Library.

Friday, November 28th, at Padiham Leisure Centre.
