Remembering the fallen

Pendle will remember its dead from global conflicts with a service in Barley on Tuesday and 12 others across the 
borough on Sunday.

The services in towns and villages will see wreaths laid by the emergency services, uniformed groups, Pendle councillors, parish and town councillors and other groups. Tuesday’s service in Barley will see people assemble at the village hall at 10-30am for a procession to the memorial stone and a service at 11am.

Details of Sunday’s services:

Barnoldswick

Assemble in the Town Square at 3pm where the Service of Remembrance will be held followed by a procession to the memorial for the wreath laying.

Barrowford

Assemble at Holmefield House at 10-15am for a procession to St Thomas’s Church for a short service at 10-45am. The procession will then proceed to the memorial in Barrowford Park for the wreath laying service at noon.

Brierfield

Assemble at the memorial at 10-30am. Wreaths will be laid and a short service conducted by the clergy of all Brierfield churches and the mosque.

Colne

Assemble at Colne Legion Club at 10-15am for a procession to the memorial where a service will be held and wreaths laid at approximately 11am.

Blacko

Assemble at the memorial at 10-50am, where a service will be held at 11am.

Earby

Assemble at New Road Community Centre at 1-45pm for a procession to the memorial grounds in Sough for a service of remembrance at 2-30pm.

Fence

A service will be held at the memorial at noon.

Foulridge

A service will be held at St Michael and All Angels’ Church at 9-15am followed by another short service starting at memorial at 11am.

Higham

The service and wreath-laying ceremony will be held at St John’s Church at 10-30am.

Laneshaw Bridge

Assemble at the Methodist Chapel at 9am before proceeding to the memorial for the service and wreath laying.

Nelson

Assemble at the Innovation Centre, Brunswick Street, at 1-30pm and proceed to the memorial for a service at 2pm.

Newchurch

The service and wreath laying will be held at St Mary’s Church at 9am.

Trawden

The service will be held at the Parish Church at 10am followed by another short service at the memorial at 11am.

Maroons will be fired in Nelson, Colne and Barnoldswick at 11am on Tuesday to mark the start of a two-minute silence.
