A PENSIONER has been airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital with head injuries following an accident in Kelbrook.
Emergency services were called to Colne Road at 10-01am, after a man fell ill at the wheel. The age of the man remains unclear, with some sources saying 64, others saying 72, and others saying early 80s.
Police have confirmed that the injuries are now being treated as minor, and that the man is believed to have had “a lucky escape”.
The road is closed both ways between B6383 Barnoldswick Road and Chapel Street in Kelbrook.
Firefighters were needed to take the roof of the man’s silver Toyota Corolla, which is believed to have collided into a stationery wagon.
It is expected that Colne road will re-open soon.
Mainline buses to Skipton are running from Colne via Crosshills until the A56 Skipton Road re-opens.
