Break-in bids at Barnoldswick shops

A trio of Barnoldswick businesses have been targeted by criminals, all believed to be on the same night in December.

Police are also keeping an open mind on the smashing of windows at a fourth and fifth businesses in Barnoldswick on two separate occasions over Christmas.

Bell’s Butchers in Walmsgate was targeted between Tuesday, December 24th, and Friday, December 27th, but an attempt to force open the front door was unsuccessful.

A crowbar was used to break into Mario’s Restaurant in Gisburn Road, Barnoldswick, around 5-20am on Friday, December 27th, before the offender or offenders fled the scene.

And the Sita site in West Close Road, Barnoldswick, was again targeted by offenders between Christmas Eve and Friday, December 27th. Metal bars were removed from the site’s office before an attempt to enter two large metal storage units failed.

Police are also treating a smashed door panel window at Yoghies Frozen Yoghurt Bar in Newtown, Barnoldswick, between noon and 12-25pm on Christmas Day as a possible break-in.

An eyewitness saw the front window of Grandma’s Attic in Albert Road kicked in by a man around 10-30pm on Christmas Eve. The man is described as being white, 5ft. 5in. tall, aged 17 to 20 and wearing blue jeans and a black jacket.
