The chairman of governors at a Pendle primary school has been chosen for a national role supporting others in similar positions to improve governance and school performance.
Rod Marsden, from St Thomas’s CE Primary School, Barrowford, is one of only 100 governors to be appointed to the role of National Leader of Governance in the latest recruitment round by the National College for Teaching and Learning.
The NLG is made up of highly effective chairmen of governors who will use their skills and experience to support others for a variety of reasons.
The chairman may be new, governors may want to focus on school improvement, or need support in dealing with significant challenges, such as converting to academy status.
Mr Marsden said: “It is a great honour for our school andI wish to thank my fellow governors for their support and encouragement in applying for this post.”
