BREAKING: More wind turbine applications for Pendle villages

Two more wind turbine applications have been submitted to Pendle Council.

The first could see a 50kw wind turbine, with an overall height of 34.5m, erected at Hazelgrove Lodge, in Warley Wise Lane, Laneshaw Bridge. The second could see a 225kw wind turbine, with an overall height of 47m, erected at Cowfield Farm, in Burnley Road, Trawden.

Both applications have been submitted by DC21 Group Ltd.

The company’s last application for a 50kw wind turbine, at Buttock Laithe Farm, in Coal Pit Lane, Colne, sparked much controversy within the community. It was rejected by Pendle Council’s Colne and District Committee earlier this year.

Concerns included the fact turbines could lead to an increase in energy bills, could cause a blight on the landscape, and could lead to a “wind farm by stealth”.

But site finder for DC21 Group Ltd Jon Roche argued that small scale wind turbines are a way of guaranteeing local energy security, providing employment and putting money into the pockets of local landowners.
