Unity College headteacher Sally Cryer is praying for the safe return of missing Burnley teenager Declan Edwards.

Sixteen-year-old Declan, a prefect at the school, was last seen in Towneley Park at 2pm on Sunday when he said he was returning to his home in Waddington Avenue, Burnley.

Mrs Cryer said Declan was a model pupil who was very popular with fellow pupils and staff.

“We are all very concerned about Declan,” she said. “We are hoping that he returns home swiftly and safely. He is a very popular pupil who is doing extremely well with his studies.

“We are all just praying that he gets in touch with somebody; his family, a friend, the school, anybody.”

Family and friends have been conducting searches of the park while the police helicopter has also been assisting with the efforts.

Anybody with any information is urged to ring 101 quoting log number 1416 of May 4th.
