A Barrowford menswear shop played a part in the success of a major charity fund-raiser held in Monaco.
The “8 Go Mad in Monaco” event is held annually by top DJ and TV presenter Chris Evans on the weekend of the Formula 1 Grand Prix held in the principality, offering people the opportunity to bid for the chance to drive classic cars around the streets and raise money for Children in Need.
The day traditionally raises hundreds of thousands of pounds each year – topping the million pound mark in 2012 – and when Scruples Menswear, of Gisburn Road, heard about it, they approached his team to ask if they could help out with suitable polo shirts.
There was a positive response – and Scruples, in conjunction with its Italian-based suppler Mancini Menswear, came up with the goods, complete with the charity’s iconic Pudsey Bear logo on the sleeve, and provided the eight shirts for the lucky bidders.
“We were really proud to organise this and Mancini were delighted to be involved too,” said Scruples’s marketing co-ordinator Ashley Sutcliffe.
“We are celebrating our 30th trading year this year so this was a special anniversary present for us.”
