An inspirational Barnoldswick woman has spoken of her pride at receiving a national award for voluntary services.
Mary Brennan, of Kelbrook Road, has received MacMillan Cancer Support’s Vicky Clement-Jones Award for 2014 which is given to volunteers who have, or have had cancer themselves, and make a significant difference to the lives of people with cancer.
Mary founded the Bosom Friends Cancer Support Group in 2000 after her recovery from breast cancer and non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, and since then, the group has moved on to extend its services.
This includes emotional support via telephone, face-to-face and group meetings and home and hospital visits and transport in Pendle, Craven and the Ribble Valley.
