Around 3,000 people turned up to enjoy a popular festival weekend filled with scarecrows and floral displays.
Trawden Garden Festival and Scarecrow Trail was this year given a World War One theme, as part of the the centenary year commemorations.
The village was filled with soldiers, nurses and Union Jacks, and the two-day event was kicked off in style with a swing dance and entertainment from singer Maria Manchester.
Chair of the festival committee Nadia Lickess said: “We had a fantastic night, everyone really got into the spirit of the evening. Maria was great, she really got everyone singing and dancing,
“Some of our Trawden sequence dancers came and showed the younger ones the moves. One of the gentlemen is 93-years-old and still dances every week.”
Some of the winners this year were first time entrants, with the Large Garden category being won by Lesley and Barry Harper and the Community Scarecrows category being won by the Back Lane residents.
Nadia added: “Everywhere in Trawden looked fantastic, and people have worked so hard all year to produce such amazing gardens.”
Over the weekend the vintage bus from Keighley bus museum proved popular, doing a circular route of the village for those who didn’t want to tackle the hills.
One resident Gillian Walsh said “The bus was brilliant, It really took me back to my youth.”
Helen Green Academy of Dance troop Rock-It! gave the visitors a great display of their dance skills on Saturday and was enjoyed by everyone including the Mayor and Mayoress of Pendle, Coun. Graham Roach and Joanna Sagar.
The dance school also entered a scarecrow which was inspired by the whole troop researching their family histories and telling their individual stories of their family members who served in the war.
On Sunday, the Nelson Silver Band played, and St Mary’s Church hosted flower displays and entertainment from Frank the Harpist. The craft fair proved popular once again and children were taught circus skills by the Company of Fools.
This year there was also a People’s Choice, where visitors could vote for their favorite garden and scarecrow. The scarecrow was won by Trawden Rainbows and the garden by Patricia Hardy, from River Street.

Thanks also to the Trawden Forest Primary School for their hard work in making poppies for the soldiers.
