Organisers behind a new summer market are hoping for a huge turnout when they host their event next month.
Sales manager Aneesa Neelam, Zoe Dickinson, from Let’s Make Something Beautiful, Eric Peasey, from Not What It Used To Be, and Maria Birkett, from E Shoes, decided to use their shared passion for the town to begin a new venture together.
The former Colne Park High School students will host their first annual event at Colne Market on August 9th, and have already lined up an array of stalls and plenty of entertainment from bands and award-winning dance group Rock-It.
Money will be being raised for Pendleside Hospice and Help For Heroes, and it is hoped a similar festival can be held around the Christmas period.
Aneesa (28), who is starting up her own business in August, said: “We are all really passionate about the town, and all the amazing changes that are happening, so we wanted to celebrate it in the Summer.
“Ten years ago the market was really busy, and we wanted to bring that back for the day.
“The event has been really well received, and we have launched a Facebook and Twitter page.
“We have got a really good support network around us.”
