A little boy with a passion for football has been left overwhelmed by support after an appeal was put in the Colne Times.
Tristan Fitzpatrick, a pupil at Sacred Heart Primary School, was left devastated when his Panini 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil sticker book fell out of the family car during a visit to Gulliver’s World.
The six-year-old was only eight stickers away from completing the 640-sticker challenge.
Now after sharing his story in our paper, his mum Claire (39) has said they have been blown away by the generosity of readers and friends who have helped Tristan with his collection.
He is now just 30 stickers away from completing the book.
She said: “We have had two complete strangers contact us, one from Blackpool, and the other from Nelson. In Nelson we called around for them, and there were over 300 stickers for Tristan.
“The tears have stopped, and Tristan is as happy as larry. With the stickers he has got swaps for, he is now going round to his friends and helping them fill their books. It has been a lovely experience, and Tristan can’t believe it.”
After hearing about Tristan’s tale, Gulliver’s World have been in touch to try and help the youngster reach his sticker book goal.
Dean Kimberley, from Gulliver’s theme parks, said: “Gully Mouse and all of the team here at Gulliver’s were sorry to hear about Tristan’s misplaced collection putting a dampener on his day out with us.
“We wanted to do our bit towards helping him build up his collection, so Gully was only too happy to send Tristan a box of 100 packs of stickers to help things along.
“We look forward to hearing about his progress – and welcoming Tristan and his family back soon for a drama-free summer day out.”
