Police have arrested two men following a savage early hours assault in a Burnley nightspot.
A 26-year-old man had to undergo facial surgery after he was hit with a bottle at Barcode in Hammerton Street around 3-40am on Saturday.
Det. Sgt Alisa Wilson, from Burnley CID, appealed for witnesses to the attack which cut a vein in the victim’s face leading to heavy bleeding.
She said: “The victim was hit in the head with a bottle and had to undergo surgery as a result.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact police on 101 quoting log LC-20140908-0260 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
A 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old man from Burnley have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. They have been released on police bail until October.
