Dental nurses are pulling together to take on a 24-mile hike for a charity that has touched both their hearts.
Leanne Walker (28), who works for Earby Dental Surgery, and Kristina Bennett (29), who is an employee at the Colne practice, will be taking on the challenge on Saturday, August 30th.
They hope to raise as much money as possible for Help For Heroes, since Leanne left the army four years ago and Kristina worked as a steward for the navy until 2009.
Former Colne Primet High School student Leanne, of Birtwistle Avenue, Colne, said: “Myself and Kristina were both in the forces, therefore we decided to get together to do a charity 24-mile hike for Help For Heroes.
“We are quite looking forward to it, but it is going to be a challenge.
“This is something close to both of us, with us both being ex-services. We have had a lot of support from our families, friends and work colleagues.”
The duo’s mission will begin at The British Legion, in Colne, at 9-30am, where they will then make their way through Barrowford, Roughlee, Barley, and up Pendle Hill. They will then make their way back to their starting location, and they hope to complete the trek in around eight hours.
