A two-year project portraying life in Colne during World War One has finally come to fruition.
The Colne Library display, consisting of models made by Colin Bean, is now available to view at the Market Street site.
It is believed the commemorative exhibit, which includes scenes of hospitals, men signing up to war and depictions of Market Street and Waterside, will be showcased until Armistice Day.
In one of the scenes, Mr Bean has paid a special tribute to drowning victim James Goodship (17), by creating
a washing line of pink socks. James’ parents had asked that anybody attending their son’s funeral earlier this year could wear the bright item of clothing.
Talking of his display Mr Bean said: “We have not to forget the horrors of war, and we must remember what it was all about.
“The text and design has been done by Lisa Judge and photographs by Naz Alam. I have very much enjoyed the project.”
