Kelbrook’s annual vintage tractor run has been trumpeted as the best ever by organisers.
Now in its fifth year, 2014’s run is the biggest sign yet that the event is continuing to gain traction with a record number of 36 tractors registered to participate and more than £400 raised for Kelbrook and Sough Village Hall.
Although just 29 tractors from the 36 registered took part in Sunday’s run, this was still the highest uptake by a country mile.
New for this year was a parade ring which helped to draw in the crowds, before the group set off at 10-30am on a 27-mile route taking in picturesque Craven villages, returning to Kelbrook for a pie and peas lunch.
Organiser Graham Wells said: “We had 29 tractors which is brilliant and is up anyway and the village hall raised £406 which is great.
“There was an awful lot of spectators before we set off and the interest in all the tractors was very good to see.
“There was quite a rush on the village hall after we set off for cakes and coffees which helped with the total amount raised.
“We had a number of new people this year who had never been on a tractor run who were asking if we will be doing another.
“It’s certainly something that can grow. Thanks to all those who volunteered in whatever way. It was a great success again and we look forward to 2015.”
