The Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Eric Pickles, will visit key regeneration projects in Pendle this morning.

Mr Pickles will look at renovated houses in the Whitefield area of Nelson and visit Northlight - the former Brierfield Mills - to see the ambitious plans to turn the building into a major destination for the North West.

Pendle Council leader Coun. Joe Cooney said: “At the same time he’ll see how neighbouring Lob Lane Mill has been transformed into the attractive Quaker Heights development at Brierfield.

“We make the most of these high profile visits to get the best for Pendle, we are always looking to the future.

“Together we create new homes, new jobs and make a strong impact on our local economy.”

Dean Langton, Pendle Council’s Head of Regeneration said: “Northlight and Quaker Heights are both major regeneration projects led by PEARL, the pioneering company we set up with contractor, investor and developer, Barnfield Construction.

“We’re proud that years of hard graft in areas like Whitefield and Brierfield are making an impact, both in Pendle and nationally.

“The completion of this work means we can offer a much wider housing choice in Pendle.”
